When Molan Apraxas and his impetuous 13-year-old daughter, Xuna, are coerced from their humble farming life into the Ancient Mayan countryside to solve the mystery of a kidnaped prince, they have no idea that their journey will pit them against the most powerful gods and rulers of the Mayan world. While dodging ancient monsters, arrogant kings, and a mysterious sorceress named Tunial Kin Mai, Molan and Xuna must also confront possibly the most daunting obstacle of all: the relationship between a father with a secretive past and a daughter on the cusp of adulthood. As the tale unfolds, the duo—both supremely gifted in u meyah waay (the Mayan term for sorcery)—become entangled in escalating tensions between the two greatest cities of Mayan empire which boil over in an epic climax with the historical First Tikal-Calakmul War of 572 AD.
